Welcome to the
Liverpool Acting Collective!

We are a small, independent and informal community of actors - both professional and amateur - based in central Liverpool (the English one). Our mission is to provide a space for people with an interest in and passion for acting to explore the craft, learn from each other and make new friends with a common interest.

Whether the last time you were in front of the camera was your dad filming you in the Year 4 nativity or you're a professional regularly booking work, everyone is welcome at LAC!

LAC isn't an acting school or performance troupe. We're a safe, creative, peer learning space where people of all ability and skill levels come together to become a better actor tomorrow than they were yesterday. Our sessions are structured, focused workshops that encourage people to try out new things, test their acting skills out and learn from others.

We meet every other [DAY] from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at [LOCATION]. Membership in the Collective costs £20/month, or you can attend an individual session for £14, though please be aware priority for attending is given to Collective members. LAC sessions are for adults aged 18 and over only with NO exceptions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How does a LAC session work?

LAC sessions run for three hours in a workshop format. Before the session, you will be emailed a scene script and assigned a character to focus on, usually with some context about the character and scene.

In Part I of the session, you'll be assigned a scene partner, and spend between 30 and 45 minutes analysing the script and working on it together as you see fit.

In Part II, you'll perform with your scene partner for the group, and then receive feedback from the rest of the group on your performance. If you're new to acting this might sound scary, but remember, the whole point is to practice and learn together! We only allow genuinely constructive, helpful feedback.

In Part III, you'll have the chance to act - every pun intended - on your feedback. Depending on the number of attendees and time we have, this will be either after a chance to work on the scene some more, or after a group discussion about the scene.

There will usually be a camera in the room for participants who want their performance recorded to review in their own time.

No. LAC is not an acting school or conservatory, and no formal teaching or instruction happens at LAC sessions. Places at our sessions are allocated on a first come, first serve basis, with priority given to Collective members.

YES. Every session is lead by a Facilitator (usually our founder and president, Joe) who will ensure that you're welcomed into the space, made to feel at home and understand how everything is going to work. Don't worry if you're nervous for your first performance in front of the group - you've seen an outtake reel, right? Mistakes happen!

LAC sessions offer you the chance to flex your acting muscles, try new things and experience working with people from different backgrounds at a fraction of the cost of acting classes. They're especially well suited for anyone who needs something to fit around other commitments, who can't afford more lessons or doesn't feel like the right kind of class is available to them, or who wants a space to focus on their craft without the pressure of judgement by people who might refer you to agents / casting directors!

Currently, in addition to saving £8/month on the cost of attending both sessions, being a member of LAC will give you:

Access to a WhatsApp community of fellow LAC members, perfect for making friends with other creatives or finding a reader for your next self-tape!

The opportunity to have your performance recorded and emailed to you for your own reflection (on request only).

Periodic social events exclusively for LAC members.
